Summer Camp is a fun-filled, multicultural experience filled with incredible activities, excursions and enrichment classes! Our students, from all over the world, have a blast within a nurturing environment through fun, activities and field trips. At Camp Carlsbad, boys and girls, ages 9-17, get an immersion experience in English, Tennis or Filming in the morning while learning values such as teamwork and cooperation through games, trips and sports activities in the afternoon. All this surrounded by majestic nature, mountains, woodlands and wide-open spaces.

A typical day at Camp Carlsbad begins with a pleasant wake-up call from our residential staff and dorm parents. After waking up and getting dressed for the morning, campers enjoy a hot or cold delicious breakfast buffet in our cafeteria, the Friendship Hall.

After breakfast, day campers join our sleepaway campers. Together they begin their morning immersion programs. When the morning lessons (English, Tennis or Filming) are complete, campers return to Friendship Hall for lunch.
After lunch, campers have some time to relax and get ready for their afternoon sport, activity, or sightseeing trip, depending on the day. Activities include hiking, biking, horse riding, walking tours and much more!
Upon returning to camp, the day campers say farewell for the day, while extended-day campers and overnight campers head to dinner for another delicious buffet, with hot and cold, meat and vegetarian options. Dinner is followed by a variety of social activities, including campfire nights, game nights, talent shows, and other fun summer camp experiences.

When the fun is over, extended-day campers head home, while our overnight campers return to their rooms to relax and get ready for bed.

Is Summer Camp co-ed?
Yes, but dormitories are assigned by gender. One building for our girls, and another for our boys. Caring staff provide 24 hour supervision, housed in separate staff apartments within the dormitories.
What's the English Immersion program like?
The English Immersion program encourages girls and boys of all ability levels to learn English language and grammar in an immersion environment. Campers practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Children are placed into groups by ability level. No prior language knowledge is required to attend camp or participate.
What's the Tennis Immersion program like?
Whether your child is a semi-pro or just a beginner, they will improve their tennis game while enjoying an unforgettable summer in the heart of Europe.

The main patron and partner of Camp Carlsbad's Tennis camp is Petr Pála. Coach Pála is world widely known for coaching the Czech Republic's Fed Cup women's team having won the Fed Cup in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Petr Pála has served as the team's non-playing captain since 2008. Among Petr Pála's other accomplishments include his on-court performance as an ATP top double player. He was recently voted among the top 30 most influential people in the Czech Republic.

Coach Pála will work closely with Head Coach, Tomáš Růžička, and other certified coaches of our Tennis program.

What are the facilities like?
Camp Carlsbad takes place at Carlsbad International School. Housed on a newly constructed and renovated campus, the CIS campus features luxurious accommodation, fresh restaurant quality food, and a private, gated environment.
Where is Carlsbad International School?
CIS is nestled in the beautiful spa town of Karlovy Vary (also known as 'Carlsbad'), west of Prague.

Our hometown sits on the banks of the Tepla and Ohre rivers, with spectacular hotels and century old architecture. Karlovy Vary means "Charles' Bath" and was so-named after Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, who founded the city in 1370.

The town is now a thriving spa and wellness resort and a growing center of commerce.

Do I need to bring anything for classes?
No, we are going to provide you with everything you need during your English classes. As of the tennis program, we encourage the students to bring their own equipment, if they have it; however, if they do not, we will provide it to them as well.
How much money should I bring?
Because all meals are provided, you do not need much money - we recommend about 50-60 EUR per week.
Will my mobile phone work in the Czech Republic?
It should do.

If you are from an EU country, calls and text messages will be the same price as they are at home (check with your provider about charges for data).

If you are from outside the EU, it can be very expensive to make calls in the UK. If your phone is not locked to a network, you can get a Czech sim card for your phone from mobile phone shops at the airports or in any town.

An alternative is to use WhatsApp to send messages and call people, using Wi-Fi, so please install it on your phone. Also, ask your parents to install it on their phones, so they can keep in touch with you! You will be provided a free access to Wi-Fi once you get to the school.
